Van falls into ravine in Zambo Sibugay, 1 dead

MANILA – A man died while 11 others were injured after a van fell into a ravine in Zamboanga Sibugay on Sunday morning.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police said a Suzuki APV carrying students and teachers plunged off a ravine in Barangay Bulaan in Buug town at around 11:30 a.m.

Police said vehicle driver Abdulajid Lukman, also the lone fatality in the accident, was negotiating a curve when he lost control of the vehicle.

Eleven others, including Lukman's companion, four teachers and 6 students, were injured.

Police said the victims were from Zamboanga City and were bound for a regional meet in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur when the accident occurred.

The injured victims were brought to St. John General Hospital in Buug.
