Spectators awed by 'human snake' dance in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines - Hundreds of families piled up along Lacson Street in Bacolod City on Saturday to witness the spectacular "longest human snake" dance.

The feat, which was participated in by more than 800 students, stretched close to a kilometer.

The "human snake" traversed through the city streets towards the capitol lagoon.

It was one of the much-awaited event spearheaded by ABS-CBN Bacolod with the Bacolaodiat Festival organizing committee for the celebration of the Chinese New Year in the city.

Aside from the human snake dance, 12 groups also competed for the lantern arena street-dancing competition.

The colorful and fun-filled celebration was capped by a magnificent fireworks display.

The annual festival is the city's tribute to the Filipino-Chinese community's contribution on economic development.
