MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – A member of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) was allegedly murdered after being captured by authorities in Datu Odin Sinsuat in Maguindanao last Friday.

This, according to BIFF spokesperson Abu Missry Mama.

Mama identified the alleged salvage victim as Ali Akubar, 42 years old.

Akubar’s wife said her husband was riding a jeepney to the town of Datu Piang when he was arrested at a checkpoint conducted by unidentified authorities in Barangay Crossing Awang. He was later allegedly brought to a military checkpoint.

Akubar’s wife called the victim’s cellphone, but the unidentified authorities answered the call and informed her that Akubar was already dead after sustaining four gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.

“Hindi namin alam kung bakit siya pinatay. Tatlo ang tama niya sa ulo at isa sa dibdib,” Mama said.

Mama said he and the rest of the members of the BIFF may retaliate.

“Kapag nanadya na sila, talagang babawi kami sa kung sino man ang gumawa nito sa kanya. Alam mo naman ang BIFF,” he warned.
