MANILA, Philippines – For the second year in a row, the Philippine Skyrace Association held the “Akyathlon” in Benguet, a "sky-running" event wherein participants ran a course that is 2000-meters above sea level.

Among the 103 participants in the event was Senator Pia Cayetano, who said the “Akyathlon” was a great way to promote eco-tourism in the region.

“For me, it’s the best way to explore the country, especially for sports tourism and environmental tourism,” Cayetano said.

The 35.3-kilometer race was held at Mt. Ugo in Tinongdan, Itogon in Benguet.

“Sana tuluy-tuloy na itong annual na activity to promote eco-tourism dito, not only in our country but around the world,” said Itong Mayor Oscar Camantiles. Report from Mara Floresca, ABS-CBN News North Luzon
