MANILA -- A man died while another was wounded after their sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a tanker truck along Sitio Bayabasan in Nasugbu, Batangas on Sunday.
Authorities said the driver of the SUV was found crushed inside the vehicle, while the other passenger was immediately brought to the hospital.
According to Romeo Esguerra, one of the men onboard the tanker, they noticed the SUV speeding downhill when it slammed into their vehicle.
The SUV driver was allegedly shocked to see the truck, making him lose control of the vehicle.
Esguerra added that their driver, Carlos Fernando, tried to bring the tanker to one side, but the SUV was swerving from side to side until it collided with the tanker.
The police were able to retrieve an identification card of a certain Nelson Landicho inside the SUV, but they are still verifying if it belongs to those involved in the accident.
An investigation on the accident is still ongoing. -- report from Eric Dastas, dzMM
