MANILA, Philippines – Kidnapped Jordanian journalist Baker Atyani is alive and in the hands of terrorist group Abu Sayyaf, a commander of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) said.

MNLF commander Hassan Andar said he saw Atyani being taken away by the bandit group during their clashes with the Abu Sayyaf in Patikul, Sulu.

Andar said he also saw the other Filipino hostages of the Abu Sayyaf.

The MNLF launched an offensive against the Abu Sayyaf on Sunday ostensibly to free Atyani.

Atyani and his 2 Filipino cameramen were abducted in June 2012.

His crew was released this past Saturday.

The MNLF is now preparing another offensive, this time targeting the camp of Abu Sayyaf leader Radulan Sahiron. -- Reports from Nickee Butlangan, ABS-CBN News; ANC
