ALBAY -- The first international chartered flight from Xiamen, China to Albay touched down in Legazpi City Thursday, officials said.
The arrival of the Philippine Airlines flight carrying 150 Chinese tourists is expected to be followed by other international flights. This could make Albay as the country's new international gateway, according to officials.
Gov. Joey Salcedo was part of the group that welcomed the arrival of the tourists, who will be celebrating Chinese New Year in the country.
With Salcedo were DOT Undersecretary Maria Victoria Jasmin and Philippine Tourism Attaché to China Gerry Panga, who noted of the smooth processing of the tourists' papers by BI and Customs officials.
