Farmer gunned down in Isabela

MANILA, Philippines – A 61-year-old farmer was gunned down in Ramon, Isabela past 10 p.m. on Friday.

Initial reports said the farmer was just walking along the road in front of the Oscariz Elementary School when an unidentified suspect opened fire.

The farmer, identified as Eduard Gunner, immediately died after sustaining gunshot wounds.

The police declined to be interviewed but according to their report, the suspect escaped using a blue motorcycle.

Authorities recovered 17 bullet shells of a .9 mm caliber gun.

The family of the victim also refused to speak about the incident because of too much trauma.

This is the fourth time that such an incident happened in Ramon this January.

According to the Sangguniang Bayan, they are already studying an ordinance which would implement Oplan Visa, their operation against "riding in tandem" criminals. - Report from Harris Julio, ABS-CBN News Northern Luzon
