MANILA, Philippines – Weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) spotted near Eastern Samar.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin on Saturday, the weather bureau said the LPA was last seen 410 kilometers east of Guiuan town in Eastern Samar.
PAGASA had been monitoring another LPA off Mindanao, but it has dissipated.
The new LPA, however, is expected to bring heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms to eastern Visayas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in Caraga, northern Mindanao and the Bicol and Davao regions.
PAGASA also said the northeast monsoon is still affecting Luzon, which may bring light rains to Metro Manila.
The rest of the country may also experience partly cloudy skies with brief light rains.
