TACLOBAN CITY -- Residents have barricaded coastal communities declared as "no-build zones" in Tacloban City amid their plans build anew their houses there.
Aside from their opposition to the "no-build zone", victims of super typhoon "Yolanda" are asking P40,000 each from the government.
Supporting the move of Yolanda survivors is the group Anakbayan, which claimed that the declaration of a "no-build zone" is anti-poor, and favors only rich businessmen in the Aquino government's rehabilitation efforts in the area.
The government, however, is adamant that the declaration of a "no-build zone" is for the safety of residents, primarily those who are living in the coastal communities ravaged by a storm surge during the onslaught of "Yolanda."
