MANILA -- Eighty-two bricks of marijuana were seized by police authorities in Barangay Naganacan in Sta. Maria, Isabela Tuesday evening.
According to the Sta. Maria Police, they received information about 3 suspicious-looking men carrying three boxes and waiting for a bus at around 6 p.m.
As they were moving toward the 3 men, 2 of the suspects suddenly ran away.
Upon inspection, police found out that the men's boxes contained 82 blocks of dried marijuana leaves.
The suspects, who were from Tabuk City, Kalinga, were supposed to deliver the boxes to Manila.
The man left behind by the two other suspects was arrested. He was a minor, police said.
He is now facing charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Manhunt operations have been launched against the arrested suspect's two cohorts.
Meanwhile, police said they are also looking into a certain Rene Sebastian, the name printed on the boxes containing the marijuana bricks.
Authorities said each brick of marijuana weighs a kilogram and costs around P4,500. In total, the confiscated items have a street value of over P300,000. -- Report from Harris Julio, ABS-CBN News Cagayan Valley
