MANILA -- Eight fishermen from Surigao del Sur were rescued Tuesday evening in Mati City, Davao Oriental after they stayed at sea for four days.
One of the fishermen, Marshal Constante, 40, died after they were rescued.
According to one of the survivors, Loreto Lara, he and his companions set sail to Davao Oriental last week. They were already out on the sea when they heard about the low pressure area (LPA). Their boat sunk after huge waves destroyed it.
He added that they clung to the storage boxes they had with them for four days, waiting to be rescued.
The fishermen will be brough back to their homes in Surigao del Sur. -- report from Bonna Pamplona, ABS-CBN News Southern Mindanao
