More than 5,000 families flee homes in Davao City

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Around 5,165 families are affected by massive flooding in Davao City.

Incessant rains have caused the Davao River to burst its banks, inundating 12 surrounding barangays. 

The Public Safety Command Center has announced a preemptive evacuation as early as 9:00 p.m. Saturday. 

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has already ordered the suspension of classes in both high school and elementary levels. – from a report by Francis Magbanua, ABS-CBN News Davao
