In Iloilo, Dinagyang festival kicks off

MANILA - People flocked to the opening of the Dinagyang Festival 2014 in Iloilo City earlier today, January 19.

A mass was held at San Jose Parish Church before the performances of the Ati-Tribe Competition started.

The tribes, who are part of the festivities, include the Panayanon, Paghidaet, Atub-Atub, Ilonganon, Obreros, Angola, Molave, Salognon, Baybayyanon, and Milagrosa.

Meanwhile, the pilgrim image of the Sto. Nino de Cebu is expected to arrive in Iloilo on Tuesday.

This will be followed by the 'Salvo of a Thousand Drums' on Friday, Kasadyahan festival on Saturday, and the Ati-Tribe competition on Sunday. - from a report by Regi Adosto, ABS-CBN News
