MANILA, Philippines – Two police directors in Negros Occidental were replaced ahead of the local elections in May.
Director of Philippine National Police (PNP) Bacolod, Sr. Supt. Ricardo dela Paz was formally replaced by Sr. Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel on Wednesday.
Dela Paz has been director for two years. His successor, Ordaniel, vows to keep the upcoming elections free of violence.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) Director Sr. Supt. Milko Lirazan will be replaced by Sr. Supt. Celestino Guara who refused to be interviewed by the media.
Lirazan served as NOPPO director for only six months.
Another Bacolod office affected by reshuffling is the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
NBI Bacolod agent-in-charge Ferdinand Lavin has already received his relief order and is set to be transferred to the death investigation division of the NBI in Manila.
He denied allegations that their investigation on the murder of Judge Henry Arles had something to do with his relief.
NBI investigation earlier showed that some politicians in Negros Occidental, including Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez, were allegedly involved in the death of Arles. -- Report from Marty Go and Yasmin Dormido, ABS-CBN News Negros
