NORTH COTABATO – At least seven people, including two policemen, were wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off inside Cotabato Foundation State College of Science and Technology in Arakan, North Cotabato on Sunday evening.

Lieutenant Nasrullah Sema of the Philippine Army's 57th Infantry Battalion said the college's presidential cottage was set on fire before the explosion occurred at around 9 p.m.

"Nasunog muna yung presidential cottage. Pag-responde ng mga pulis at bumbero biglang may sumabog sa likod ng tinitirhan ng president ng school," Sema said.

One of the two policemen wounded in the blast was identified only as PO2 Lorenzo. The six other injured victims are still unidentified. All of them are now being treated in a hospital in Kidapawan City.

The motive behind the explosion and its perpetrators have yet to be identified. The components of the IED have also yet to be determined.
