MANILA -- Mango farm owners in San Carlos City, Pangasinan are now worried about losing their crops as pests attack their farms.

Farmers believe that their trees are infested by a pest called 'talakitik,' causing the mangoes to fall from trees.

'Talakitik' are small, black insects that stick to the fruits.

Aside from this pest, other mango trees are not bearing fruits because of what farmers call 'korikong,' which causes flowers to rot.

According to the Provincial Agriculture Office, they are still investigating the extent of the damage caused by these pests. So far, they have received reports from only a few farmers.

San Carlos City is a major mango producer in the province. -- with a report from John Germono, ABS-CBN News North Central Luzon
