Ex-soldier nabbed for illegal possession of firearms

COTABATO CITY -- A former member of the Philippine Army was arrested by elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Arakan, North Cotabato for illegal possession of firearms.

According to Arakan municipal police, former Corporal Franny Sasi was flagged down at a PNP check point in Barangay Poblacion past 4 p.m. on Monday.

Seized from his possession were a unit of homemade fortylite pistol, a homemade caliber 22 revolver, a fragmentation grenade, 24 rounds of ammunition for 5.56 millimeter, 2 rounds of ammunition for caliber 45, 14 rounds of special ammunition for caliber 22, and various identification cards including his AFP ID.

The suspect, along with the confiscated items, was immediately brought to Arakan municipal police station.

A complaint for Illegal possession of firearms, explosives and ammunition has been filed against Sasi.
