MANILA -- A motorcycle driver and one of his riders died when they crashed into a bus along Brgy. Anonas in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan early Monday morning.
The bus, bound for Manila from Candon, caught fire after the collision. All of its 49 passengers were able to escape safely.
Joseph Quiban, the driver of the motorcycle, and one of his backriders, John Lindon Ordanez, died on the spot, after their bodies were dragged by the bus.
Another backrider, Julius Pulido, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The three victims came from a drinking spree. Quiban was a seafarer who just came back last December.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old woman died after she was run over by a bus while crossing the pedestrian lane in McArthur Highway in Urdaneta City.
Police said Juliet Rebillo was with her child and husband when the accident happened. Rebillo's husband flagged down the bus so they can cross safely.
However, the bus driver admitted that he did not see the victim crossing the street.
The bus company and the victim's family already settled the case. -- with reports from Michelle Soriano, ABS-CBN News
