MANILA, Philippines - A five-year-old boy endured probably the longest two hours of his life after being trapped inside a locked pawnshop in Puerto Princesa City.
The boy was crying as he peered through a small opening from the shop’s steel door on Thursday evening.
The pawnshop closed at 5 p.m. but it was about 7 p.m. when it was discovered that a boy was locked inside the establishment located at the San Jose New Market.
The manager quickly returned to the pawnshop, but it took some time before the person with the keys to the establishment arrived.
Pawnshop personnel claimed they checked the shop first before locking it but did not notice the boy.
The boy’s father, a vendor in the area, said they have been looking for him since Thursday afternoon. He went to the pawnshop after learning that a boy was locked inside.
The boy claimed that he fell asleep behind a tarpaulin near the pawnshop’s counter.
The father is worried that the traumatic incident may have an effect on his son. He plans to bring the boy to the City Social Welfare and Development for counseling. Lynette dela Cruz, ABS-CBN News
