COTABATO CITY, Philippines – After two meetings of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Central Committee last month, the leadership has come up with a final list of nominees in the 8 slots in the transition commission.

In a plenary session held December 23, 2012, where the central committee had agreed that it should be a consensus decision, the selection began and after two meetings, the MILF already have a final list.

MILF First Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar said there were only 11 nominees.

As of press time, the official refused to name the MILF transition commission members.

He told ABS-CBN in an interview Thursday that the list should be submitted first to the government of the Philippines through the Malaysian facilitator, and President Benigno Aquino will appoint the nominees of the MILF.

The official said one member is a lawyer who is a Tausug, one representative of the Indigenous People (IP) which is a native, one representative of Civil Society Organizations, a member of the MILF armed wing while others are from the MILF Central Committee.

These personalities will be named in due time.

The 15-man group that will compose the transition commission will be tasked to draft the Bangsamoro Basic Law.

Two of the MILF's prerequisites on the nominees are having enough knowledge on the Bangsamoro cause and being able to meet his or her responsibilities as part of the transition commission.
