MANILA, Philippines – Ten stray bullet incidents have been reported in Iloilo.
At least 20 slugs and empty shells that came from various firearms were turned over to Iloilo City Police Office, but Police Regional Office 6 said they have yet to confirm if the shells were fired during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Iloilo City has the most recorded stray bullet incidents in Region VI with 8, followed by Iloilo province with 2.
Aklan and Bacolod City, meanwhile, reported one incident each.
Three persons were also injured due to stray bullets.
Individuals who fired their guns during the New Year revelries are still unidentified, as of posting.
Police said the number of stray bullet incidents this year went gone down compared to last year’s data.
Aside from stray bullet incidents, there is also a drop in firecracker-related injuries.
Based on the record of Camp Delgado, only 57 persons were reported injured due to firecrackers.
Twenty-seven victims came from Negros Occidental, 6 in Bacolod City, 6 in Iloilo, 6 in Guimaras, 5 in Iloilo City, 3 in Capiz, 3 in Antique, and 1 in Aklan.
