MANILA, Philippines -- Two members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) and three civilians were abducted by alleged members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Barangay Tambobong in Baguio District, Davao City.

Authorities said the two CAFGU members were abducted first in Sitio Mangas-As while the three civilians were later abducted in Sitio Luan.

The CAFGU members were already released after being interrogated by the NPA.

The civilians, however, have yet to be released by the communist rebels.

Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Nigos of the 84th Infantry Battalion said the abduction was a clear violation of the unilateral ceasefire.

So the military will take action despite the suspension of offensive military operations (SOMO), he said. -- Report from Robert Mano, dzMM
