MANILA, Philippines – The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is offering free train rides to commuters on Sunday, December 30, as part of the 116th anniversary of the martyrdom of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
LRT passengers can avail of the free rides between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the LRT-1 (Baclaran-Roosevelt) and LRT-2 (Santolan-Recto) lines.
The free rides were approved by the Department of Transportation and Communications, following a request from the National Historical Commission to allow the riding public to conveniently participate in Rizal Day activities in Metro Manila, according to LRTA spokesman Atty. Hernando Cabrera.
Cabrera also reminded the public that the LRTA will continue to implement its "no inspection, no entry” policy during the holidays to ensure the safety and security of commuters.
