MANILA, Philippines - President Arroyo on Thursday witnessed the burning of more than 150 kilograms of illegal drugs seized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PDEA said the illegal drugs, shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and cocaine, were seized in recent operations.

Among those burned were 85.87 kilograms of shabu reportedly seized in Aurora province.

PDEA Director-General Dionisio Santiago said the shabu haul was recovered during interdiction operations in Barangay Matawie in Aurora.

The 66 kilograms of cocaine meanwhile were reportedly found along the shoreline in Eastern Samar and are suspected to have been dumped by a Chinese vessel at sea. They were found in separate incidents on December 22 and 23, said Santiago.

Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera also witnessed the burning of the illegal drugs which was held in the PDA grounds in Quezon City.
