MANILA, Philippines -- An 80-year-old suspect in a robbery incident in Robinson's Mall Otis in Pandacan, Manila was arrested by police authorities Friday.
Footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showed the suspect slowly crawling towards the Megapixel Cellphone Shop's vault while employee Karen Lyn was busy talking to 2 other customers, who turned out to be cohorts of the suspect.
Over 30 cellphones worth almost P300,000 were stolen by the suspect, who was later identified by police as Rogelio "Tiki" Dela Rosa, the leader of the Dela Rosa Salisi Gang.
Authorities said Dela Rosa already had multiple cases of robbery and theft prior to the incident.
He was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by police authorities in Kahilom, Pandacan.
Police, however, failed to recover the stolen items from the suspect.
Dela Rosa initially denied the allegations against him, but he was positively identified by Karen Lyn.
A manhunt operation has been launched against the other suspects identified only as alias "Etang" and "Oli". -- Report from Gus Abelgas, ABS-CBN News
