MANILA, Philippines – The number of farmers rushed to the hospital while conducting hunger strike in front of the office of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has reached 36.

Gerry Cahilig, spokesperson of Task Force Mapalad, said the farmers were all brought to the East Avenue Medical Center.

Members of Task Force Mapalad have been conducting hunger strike since Monday to call for the removal of DAR Secretary Virgilio delos Reyes.

They said delos Reyes has not taken action in implementing the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms (CARPER).

Despite the hospitalizations, the rest of the farmers have remained in front of the DAR office in Quezon City - with a report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
