Elliot Maguan tagged in Go's alleged kidnap
MANILA, Philippines - A suspect in the alleged kidnapping of convicted murderer Rolito Go at the New Bilibid Prisons has implicated Elliot Maguan as one of the possible masterminds behind the abduction.
Elliot is a younger brother of the late Eldon Maguan, a 25-year-old engineering student who Go shot and killed in a traffic altercation in 1991.
This development was alleged by the Go camp during the preliminary investigation of their case at Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday. National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine National Police officers accompanied Go during the probe.
Atty. Claire Castro, counsel for Go, said Armando Mondero identified Maguan as the one their boss Engineer Emilio Ortiz was speaking to before the abduction took place. However, Mondero claimed he did not hear what the two men talked about.
Go said he began to feel that the motive for his abduction was more complex after his alleged captors did not ask any ransom for his release.
"Na feel ko na mas malalim ito eh, kasi pinakawalan ako ng ganun lang. Sayang kasi dapat next year makakalaya na ako, pero dahil dito baka matagalan pa ako sa loob," Go said.
Castro said that they are not yet accusing Maguan as the mastermind behind the alleged abduction.
"Hindi pa namin alam kung ano ang role niya, pero baka meron siyang link. We want to hear what he has to say," she said.
A subpoena will be issued against Maguan in the following days following this new development.
