MANILA, Philippines – Jason Ivler, the suspect in the murder of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., has been allowed by the court to transfer to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) where he is set to undergo a major surgical operation.

In a one-page order, Judge Luisito Cortez of Regional Trial Court Branch (RTC) 84 allowed the transfer of Ivler from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology's Special Intensive Care area in Camp Bagong Diwa to the QMMC Friday afternoon.

Ivler is set to undergo a reverse colonostomy, which is a surgery linked to the operation he had to go through due to the bullet wounds he sustained during a shootout with the National Bureau of Investigation in Quezon City January 2010.

Ivler's lawyers first applied for a hospital confinement in May 2010 from Judge Alexander Balut of RTC Branch 76.

Ivler is facing a murder case at the Quezon City RTC for the death of the 27-year-old Ebarle over a traffic altercation. -- Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
