MANILA, Philippines - Over 1,000 street sweepers of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) received early Christmas gifts from the agency and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
A total of 1,195 street sweepers were given grocery bags with noche buena packs and movie passes for the eight films included in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Marilou Meligrito, 52, said she has been working as a street sweeper for 28 years already but it was the first time she received gifts from the MMDA.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the street sweepers deserve to be rewarded with Christmas presents because of their hard work in keeping the metro streets clean even under the sun. -- Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
