MANILA, Philippines - A 39-year-old American teaching English in a Philippine online tutorial school turned out to be one of the most wanted men in America.

Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Immigration, in coordination with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested David Greth last week as he left work for the day in Iloilo. He did not resist arrest.

NBI officials told ABS-CBN Greth is wanted in Portsmouth, Virginia for 16 counts of rape.

The website America's Most Wanted lists Greth as being wanted for one count of rape; two counts of aggravated sexual battery; three counts of forcible sodomy; two counts of child abuse; two counts of indecent liberties with children; object penetration; and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Authorities said Greth was initially charged with the lesser offense of drug possession, which allowed him to post bail and flee America in 2006.

He escaped to the Philippines and has been living in various parts of the country. The last six months were spent in Iloilo City where he found a job at the ENGCA PHONE online english tutorial services.
When the FBI learned he was hiding in the Philippines, they immediately contacted local authorities. The arrest ends a 4-year manhunt for Greth.

Greth was deported over the weekend and will be detained and tried in America.
