MANILA, Philippines – A total of 26 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras were set up by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Rizal Park to ensure the safety of the public strolling by the place especially this Christmas season.
The cameras were strategically set up from the Quirino Grandstand to Taft Avenue in Ermita so authorities would have an eye on every corner of the park.
The high technology gadgets are capable of rotating 360 degrees and they are also capable of digital zoom as well as recognize people based on faces the agency will input in its database.
The CCTV cameras also have the capacity to count the number of people at the park.
It is estimated that the DOT spent P37 million for this project.
