Taguig cop nabbed in drug buy-bust
MANILA, Philippines -- A Taguig City Police cop was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Senior Supt. Rodolfo Leorca, chief of Pasay City Police, said PO1 Darwin Cruzin and his cohort Paul Christian Gratin were arrested in Libertad Street.
Southern Police District Director Benito Estipona said the buy-bust operation was conducted after receiving reports of Cruzin's alleged illegal drug activities in the area.
Seized from the two suspects were three sachets of suspected shabu, a .25 caliber pistol with 4 bullets and a .9mm caliber pistol, which is the service firearm of police officers.
Cruzin and Gratin are facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 26 (Attempt or Conspiracy), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Estipona said Cruzin will also face administrative charges for grave misconduct. -- Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
