MANILA, Philippines -  A grandson of the late President Cory Aquino is cool to the idea of renaming Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) after the late president.

Jonty Cruz, son of Ballsy Aquino Cruz, tweeted, “I'm good with calling it EDSA thanks. :)”

Cruz's tweet came after Bohol Rep. Rene Relampagos proposed to rename EDSA after the democracy icon in honor of her role in the 1986 People Power revolution that ousted Ferdinand Marcos.

Relampagos filed House Bill 5422 to change the name of Metro Manila’s 24-kilometer long main circumferential road and highway, which was formerly known as Highway 54.

The road runs in a semicircle around Manila and passes through the cities of Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and Caloocan.

House Minority Leader Edcel Lagman, however, dismissed the idea and said Relampagos should pick a road closer to Hacienda Luisita or Tarlac.  With a report from RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
