MANILA, Philippines – A 6-year-old boy who was allegedly abducted by teenagers on November 11 has been reunited with his parents.
The boy has been in the custody of the Antipolo Social Welfare Office since November 12.
Social workers said they saw the boy loitering in Barangay Mambugan in Antipolo.
“Galing daw siya ng Blumentritt. Taga-doon daw siya tapos sumakay siya ng jeep, hindi na niya alam kung saan siya napunta,” said social worker Bernardo Cerilla.
Social workers were able to contact the boy's parents after watching yesterday’s report on the arrest of a 15-year-old boy, who admitted that he was part of the group who abducted the 6-year-old to use him as a beggar.
The boy’s mother was thankful that her child is safe.
“Akala ko hindi ko na siya makikita, hiniling ko talaga sa Diyos na makita ko ‘yung anak ko. Halos hindi na nga kami makakain at makatulog,” she said.
The boy will undergo counseling to help him cope with the incident.
Authorities are now investigating how he was able to get to Antipolo from Manila. -- Report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
