MANILA, Philippines – Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay has signed ordinances granting government employees additional P500 in their monthly allowance.

Binay signed four separate ordinances, which became effective in October, granting the city's teachers, policemen, fire and jail guards additional P500 allowance monthly.

The government employees will receive this December a total of P1,500, covering the increase from October to December.

The city government released a total of P4.575 million to cover the increase for Makati's 3,050 teachers; P877,500 for 585 policemen; P406,500 for 271 firemen; and P220,500 for 147 jail guards.

The officials of the Department of Education, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Bureau of Fire Protection currently receive a P3,000-monthly allowance each while rank-and-file personnel receive P2,500.

"The national government employees serving in Makati are our partners in progress and development,” Binay said.

"Granting them additional allowances is our way of expressing our appreciation for their dedication and service to the people who live, work, shop or do business in Makati."
