MANILA, Philippines – Contaminated meat products to be used for barbeque were confiscated by local officials following a raid in Payatas, Quezon City.
Officials of the Quezon City Hall and Quezon City Police District raided several homes that serve as meat processing facilities in Payatas for operating in poor and unsanitary conditions.
Authorities discovered that equipment used in the facilities were stored too close to a sewerage system.
The area where the meat was being processed was also not sanitized, said authorities.
“Delikado po. Kontaminado talaga, nakita niyo naman ang mga ginamit nilang equipment at ‘yung kanilang lugar,” said Dr. Ana Cabel of the Quezon City Hall.
City officials also found out that the facilities were operating without a permit.
Aside from confiscating the meat products, 3 facilities were shut down by the city officials. -- Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
