MANILA, Philippines – Employees of Divisoria Mall in Manila stormed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office on Tuesday to complain about a stall owner who allegedly duped them into joining an investment scam.
The complainants said stall owner Imelda Lumido had promised that they will earn a 15% weekly interest, but she is now unable to pay them back.
Under the scheme, Lumido would invite investors to contribute funds which she uses as capital for her lending business.
The NBI is now investigating Lumido for allegedly scamming at least 300 people with her scheme.
They said estafa charges may be filed against Lumido. -- Report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
