MANILA, Philippines - The Metro Manila Development Authority on Monday said it has received the first batch of rescue boats from Thailand.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the agency has received 7 fiberglass rescue boats, as well as oars and life jackets.

He said the rescue boats will be part of the equipment of the newly formed MMDA rescue battalion.

Tolentino said the 7 rescue boats are part of 100 units that Thailand promised to give to the Philippines.
