MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) trainee died during his first day of training in Taguig City, an official said on Wednesday.
PCG spokesperson Lt. Cdr. Armand Balilo said Joel Denori died after suffering from heat stroke during his first day of training at the PCG headquarters in Taguig.
Balilo said Denori was rushed to the hospital but eventually died.
He said Denori suffered from high blood pressure and unstable body temperature as well.
PCG Vice Commandant for Operations Rear Admiral Luis Tuason Jr. wants an autopsy on Denori's remains to shed light on the trainee's death. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
