TESDA specialists take part in Asean skills contest

MANILA, Philippines – Sixteen specialists from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) today participated in the Asean Skills Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The TESDA specialists were trained by various institutions as part of their preparation for the contest against representatives from nine other Southeast Asian countries.

The 9th ASEAN Skills Competition will run until November 20.

The contestants will show off their skills in different fields, including information network administration, electronics, web design, hair-dressing, caring, fashion technology, megatronics, refrigeration and air conditioning, industrial automation and beauty therapy.

It is the first time in three years that the Philippines will be sending representatives to the biennial skills competition.

The winners of the Asean Skills Competition will be sent to the International Youth Skills Olympics. -- Report from Dexter Ganibe, DZMM
