Suspect in slay of ABS-CBN talent shot
MANILA, Philippines – One of the suspects in the killing of Julie Anne Rodellas, who worked as a part-time talent for ABS-CBN, has been shot to death in an encounter with authorities early Sunday morning.
According to witnesses, the police raided the house of suspect Fahad Usman in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City in a follow-up operation.
The cops reportedly chased Usman, who tried to run away and that was when he was shot to death.
Usman is allegedly the gunman who killed Rodellas.
Meanwhile two other suspects Jayman Insanji and Jelan Pasawilan were also arrested.
Prior to this operation, authorities also nabbed two other suspects Altea Altamirano and Fernando Quiambao Jr. in Apalit, Pampanga at around 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Insanji said Altamirano is the mastermind behind the slay of Rodellas and she ordered the killing of the part-time ABS-CBN talent through a text message.
Altamirano, however, denied these accusations.
Altamirano was allegedly the one who reported that Rodellas was abducted by two men near the World Trade Center last Tuesday.
The body of the 20-year-old Rodellas was later found in Cubao. The victim had gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Police earlier said they believe Altamirano is key to shedding light on Rodellas’ death.
Investigations about the crime is still underway. -- Reports from Dennis Datu, Eric Dastas and Robert Mano, dzMM
