MANILA, Philippines – A man may face charges after he was accused of raping his 5-year-old goddaughter in Caloocan City.
The suspect, Jess Briosos, allegedly raped the girl inside his bedroom.
“Nagtiwala ako sa kanya na siya ang pangalawang ama ng anak ko, tapos ganoon ang gagawin niya,” said the girl’s mother, Ana.
Ana said she earlier agreed to settle the matter and received P45,000 in exchange for not filing charges.
A blotter report by Caloocan Police confirmed that the two camps have settled.
However, Ana said she has changed her mind and is now planning to file a lawsuit against the suspect.
“Nakonsyensya ako sa nangyari kasi naglabas ng salita ‘yung anak ko na bakit daw nakalabas. Niyakap ko ‘yung anak ko dahil naawa ako sa kanya,” she said.
She also said she is willing to return the money to the suspect.
The mother also complained that one of the police officers of Caloocan was the one who advised her not to file charges.
She alleged that PO2 Michael Ramirez also extorted P15,000 from her.
“Kailangan pa-imbestigahan natin ng maigi ‘yan. Ti-nake advantage ‘yung biktima,” said Supt. Rimas Calixto, chief of Caloocan PNP.
Ramirez declined to face the media. He said he will respond to the allegations in court.
He may face charges of extortion and obstruction of justice. -- Report from Jing Castañeda, ABS-CBN News
