MAKATI, Philippines - Vice-President Jejomar Binay on Friday said he does not approve of any law that will ban political dynasties.

In an interview with media at the Makati City Hall, Binay said people should be allowed to vote for their choice of leaders.

Vox populi," he added.

Binay and his wife, Elenita, are former mayors of Makati. Their son, Junjun, is the incumbent mayor of the city.

Binay's eldest daughter, Nancy, is running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance in the 2013 elections.

Another Binay daughter, Abigai, is Makati congresswoman.

The vice-president claimed that the issue of political dynasties is only being used by those who can't win elections.

Gustong mabawasan ang kalaban," he said.

Binay said political dynasties are not a problem in other countries, such as the United States.

Patas patas lang yan eh," Binay said.
