MANILA, Philippines – A red alert status was raised at the La Mesa Dam in Quezon City on Sunday morning as its water level reached near the spilling level.

Radio dzMM reporter Dennis Datu said the dam’s water level rose to 79.75 meters, or only 0.40 meters below its spilling level of 80.15 meters.

Datu said this is due to the continuous scattered rains in Metro Manila brought by a shallow low pressure area.

According to Teddy Angeles, La Mesa dam headworks manager, the local government units and the residents have already been alerted.
