Manila cemetery gravedigger nabbed for robbery
MANILA, Philippines – A gravedigger at the Manila South Cemetery was arrested by authorities after he was accused by two visitors of robbery.
The suspect, Iggy Boy Pama, allegedly pointed a knife at Dennis Garinggan and Arianne San Jose as the two were leaving the cemetery.
Police said the suspect took the victims’ cash and cellphones amounting to P12,000.
The suspect then allegedly passed the stolen money and goods to his cohorts inside the cemetery.
Henry Dy, administrator of the Manila South Cemetery, confirmed that the suspect is indeed employed as a gravedigger.
The Manila South Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in Metro Manila, with around 50,000 visitors staying overnight for the All Saints’ Day holiday. -- Report from Ricky Velasco, dzMM
