MANILA, Philippines - Traffic at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) was light on Friday morning as the main bulk of travelers had already gone out of Metro Manila for the All Souls and All Saints Day holidays.
The NLEX traffic control room also reported that no vehicular accident occurred on the 84-kilometer stretch expressway since lunchtime on Thursday. The last recorded accident involved a collision at around 11:40 am, Thursday, between two private vehicles at kilometer 25, near the Bocaue exit.
Traffic at the Mabalacat Toll Plaza of SCTEX and the Bocaue Toll Plaza of NLEX is expected to be heavy beginning Sunday up to Monday morning as motorists return to Metro Manila. The Tollways Management Corp. is also bracing for possible increased volume on Saturday.
Roadwork at the NLEX and SCTEX have been suspended from Oct. 28 to Nov 4 to give way to the expected number of motorists. Additional traffic management and security personnel have been deployed from Oct. 25 to Nov. 5.
