MANILA - A family of 4 aboard a van along Roxas Boulevard fell prey to robbers Sunday morning.
Three of the family members were wounded after 2 unidentified motorcycle-riding men shot them and stole a bag from the victims, according to radio dzMM.
The wounded family members were brought to the Ospital ng Maynila for treatment.
The victims were identified as Ruben Chua, 45; Jocelyn Chua, 41, who has a bullet wound to the left side of her waist; and Clarissa Go, 65, who has a bullet wound to her left foot. The other passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was reportedly traumatized because of the incident.
According to an incident report filed at the Manila Police District Station 5, Mrs. Chua and her son have just arrived from Guam, and were fetched by Mr. Chua and Ms. Go.
At around 8:10 a.m., their vehicle, a red Toyota Lite Ace with plate number UFK 695, stopped at the corner of Pedro Gil St. and Roxas Boulevard. Two armed men suddenly appeared at both sides of their vehicle and fired on their vehicle.
Despite being wounded, Mr. Chua still managed to drive to bring them to the Metropolitan Medical Center, but he was not able to control the vehicle any longer which led to their van hitting a tree near the Manila Diamond Hotel.
There, a security guard heard the vehicle's crash, and was able to call for police assistance.
The suspects were reportedly able to cart away $700, P18,000, an undetermined amount of other cash, and a bag with 2 mobile phones, a passport, and credit cards. With reports from Ricky Velasco, radio dzMM, and Cecille Lardizabal, ABS-CBN News
