MANILA, Philippines – The social welfare office of Manila City Hall has shut down the Hollywood Theater in Quiapo, Manila for violating several city restrictions.
A closure order was issued to the theater’s owner for committing fire safety, health and sanitation code violations.
According to Jay dela Fuente, chief of the social welfare office, the owner of the theater may still appeal the decision provided that the restrictions will be followed.
The theater was raided last week following complaints of male prostitution inside the theater.
Nearly 40 people were caught inside the theater, but were subsequently released after being given a warning by authorities. -- Report by Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News
