MANILA – A 2-year-old boy allegedly abducted by another minor in a grocery store in Caloocan has been reunited with his parents.

The boy, “Mark” (not his real name), went missing after he was carried out of the grocery store by another boy, whom police suspect to be 10 years old.

Footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showed that Mark was crying as he was being carried by the minor.

Mark’s parents, Cesar and Marife Magpayo, searched for their son for days and eventually found him in the custody of a barangay captain, who lives several kilometers away from their home.

The barangay captain said Mark was brought to his home by 2 child vendors. The vendors said they saw Mark alone inside a church.

Mark’s lips were swollen when he was found by his parents. The child said his abductors hit him in the lips.

Caloocan Police is now searching for Mark’s abductor.

Grocery employees said they often see the suspect loitering in the area and begging for money.

They will also investigate if a bigger syndicate is behind the abduction.

Authorities, meanwhile, reminded parents to keep a close eye on their children especially in crowded areas such as malls and supermarkets. -- Report from Chiara Zambrano, ABS-CBN News
